I had expected to read much more detailed information on each of these buildings; and also I would have liked more photos from different angles, more details, etc. Some of the commentary is rather sketchy. But then what I mention would have required a much heftier book. Some of the very good contents are, e.g. the time lines with colors indicting length of reigns, eras, etc.
All in all a quite satisfactory book.

Piano, virtuoso: The wide-ranging career of the master architect   Some architects have a signature style. What sets Piano apart is that he applies his coherent set of ideas in extraordinarily different ways. It takes more than a quick glance to see his touch on such individual structures as the Pompidou Center, The New York Times Building in New York, and his 72-story London Bridge Tower. Each project is a renaissance, because, as Piano himself explains: “One of the great beauties of architecture is that each time, it is like life starting all over again.”

This updated monograph, illustrated by photographs, sketches, and plans, spans Piano’s career to date and the many existences of his singular aesthetic. It includes new photographs of the Modern Wing of the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Kimbell Art Museum Expansion in Fort Worth, Texas, as well as a sneak peek at his current project, Valletta City Gate in Valletta, Malta. They are architecture's most famous father-son duo: Eero, the younger Saarinen, designer of such masterpieces as the TWA Terminal Building at Kennedy Airport, and his father Eliel, celebrated for triumphs such as the art nouveau railway station in Helsinki. Lesser known, but no less impressive, are their houses, which, regardless of style, share a belief in architecture as a total work of art. Featuring carefully designed interiors—often with custom-made furniture—they effortlessly merge with the landscape, and reward residents with exciting views, inviting nooks, and opulent furnishings. For the first time, Saarinen Houses presents seventeen remarkable houses built over a span of six decades, in Finland and the United States. From Eliel's early twentieth-century Villa Pulkanranta— an eclectic mix of local Finnish design traditions and international influences—to Eero's Miller House, one of the most significant examples of modern domestic architecture in the United States, each Saarinen Houses read book online now.

Dutch architect, architectural theorist and urban thinker Rem Koolhaas (born 1944) has been a protagonist of the international architectural avant-garde since the 1970s; his numerous worldwide awards include the Pritzker Prize in 2000 for his lifetime achievement. Through a series of essays, this book interprets his many buildings and projects by drawing on Koolhaas' own theoretical oeuvre of polemics, manifestos, interviews, books such as Delirious New York and his so-called "design patents." In these writings, Koolhaas articulates a design method that links theory and practice, whereby an idea is applied to several projects over a period of time, so that it can continuously evolve. This book not only orients this method within architectural history, but also shows how it repositions the function of the authors or the architects themselves.
